ARTIST STATEMENT

Ted Polomis attended The Rhode Island School of Design and was elected to the European Honors Program in Rome, Italy, where he spent his junior year. During this time, Ted visited every museum and collection possible, not only in Italy, but thirteen other countries as well, thus enabling him to study the works of the Great Masters. He graduated in 1985 with a Bachelors of Fine Art.

Working exclusively in oils, Ted creates paintings with a sophisticated sense of balance and depth. He is captivated by the interplay between objects and their environment and the quiet harmony that results from balancing form, color, light and shadow. "I always paint objects that I find captivating in some way, and worthy of close, repeated inspection. I prefer simple balanced setups that highlight my subjects while, at the same time, create a meditative and calming scene. My hope is that the collector will be as engaged by my paintings as I am with my subjects."

His works have received numerous awards, and have been featured in many publications including American Art Collector, International Artist and The Artist's Magazine.
